Cley Marshes Nature Reserve

Reedbeds, Saltmarsh, and Coastal Wildlife Along the Norfolk Coast

Cley Marshes Nature Reserve is one of the most distinctive coastal landscapes within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. Located alongside the Norfolk Coast Path between Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea, the reserve combines reedbeds, saltmarsh, grazing marsh, shingle, and tidal channels within a landscape shaped by wildlife, water, and changing coastline.

Walking routes pass through and around the reserve, providing opportunities to experience expansive coastal views, birdlife, and some of Norfolk's most important wetland habitats. Throughout the year, migratory birds, waders, and waterfowl use the reserve, making it one of the most significant wildlife sites on England's east coast.

Together, the reserve's reedbeds, saltmarsh, grazing marsh, and tidal habitats create one of the most distinctive landscapes along the Norfolk Coast Path, where wildlife, open skies, and the changing coastline shape the character of the area.
